Position Purpose:
To train and/or supervise clients placed individually or in groups in Supported Employment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn the specific job tasks the clients will be required to perform
  • Train clients to perform specific job tasks
  • Perform some job tasks during the time clients are in the initial learning phase.
  • Set-up natural supports at the workplace
  • Track and document billable hours
  • Educate and assist clients with company policies and procedures
  • Participate in clients’ planning team to develop goals, objectives and natural supports
  • Ensure that clients adhere to the SVS Illness and Injury Prevention Program (IIPP) and site safety rules
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director
  • Mandated Abuse Reporter

Education and Work Experience:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Requires ability to work independently and organize work without close supervision; ability to establish effective work relationships with clients. Prefer two years experience in a supported employment program. Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Driving and License Requirements:
If working with group clients, must have a valid California Driver’s license and good driving record. May require the ability to operate a nine (9) passenger van. If working with individually placed clients, must have personal vehicle and proof of auto liability insurance as mandated by State of California.

Criminal Record Clearance:
Must obtain and maintain Department of Justice/FBI fingerprint clearance.

Additional Requirements:
Must obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification. Must be able to pass a post-job offer job-related physical exam, to include a negative TB test if work will be in a licensed facility. Certain locations require the ability to pass a drug screening prior to hire; and randomly thereafter.

Work Environment:
Moderate noise level, with occasional increases to higher than moderate noise levels; may occasionally be exposed to heat, cold, dust, fumes and inclement weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms, regularly stands and walks for up to two hours at a time. Frequently stoops, bends, kneels, reaches, pushes, pulls and lifts up 25 pounds. Must be capable of manipulating wheelchairs, walkers and positioning non-ambulatory adult clients. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
